Hlíf Sigurjónsdóttir was born in Denmark and grew up in Iceland. She studied at the Reykjavík College of Music, the Universities of Indiana and Toronto with Franco Gulli and Lorand Fenyves, and the Banff School of Fine Arts. Later she took private lessons in New York from the renowned violinist and teacher Gerald Beal. Hlíf has given numerous concerts both as a soloist and with various ensembles and orchestras. Among other recordings, she has released a critically acclaimed version of the solo violin works of J.S. Bach and the disk Dialogus with works for solo violin, all of which were written for her. This disk was named one of the best CDs of the year 2015 by Fanfare Magazine’s critic Maria Nockin.
Hlíf and Carl met in Iceland in 2014 and since then, they perform together on a regular basis in Canada, Iceland, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
