Featured is the music of Manuel Ponce and Carlos Chavez. Both were influential composers in the twentieth century. They promoted the music written in and about their own country celebrating its past while pointing to the future.

While Latin America produced many composers of classical music in the European forms and traditions, some composers brought in the folk music roots from their respective countries. We hear this inclusion and blending of styles in the rhythms, harmonies and melodies of some great music.
