Marie Bégin

Praised for her outstanding musicality, violinist Marie Bégin has performed recitals around the world. She was soloist with many ensembles such as the Stuttgarter Kammerorchester, the National Art Center Orchestra, the Quebec Symphony Orchestra. She is frequently invited to lead renowned ensembles as a concertmaster, notably the Violons du Roy, the Bach Festival of Montreal, the Hulencourt Soloist Chamber Orchestra.

A passionate chamber player, Marie was appointed first violin of the Saguenay Quartet early in her career. She is now professor of violin and chamber music at the Université de Montréal. Born in a family of violinists, she studied at the Zakhar Bron Academy, the Kronberg Academy, the Mozarteum University as well as at the Conservatoire de musique de Québec. Part of CBC’s “30 Hot Canadian Classical Musicians under 30” 2020 edition, Marie Bégin won many prizes and stood out in competitions such as the Shanghai Isaac Stern International Violin Competition and the Wieniawski International Violin Competition in Poland. She plays on a violin Carlo Bergonzi (1710-1715) graciously loaned by CANIMEX INC.
